Trained In Righteousness
Introduction
My name is Terri Tidwell. I was born in 1959, and I grew up in a small town in west Texas. I was saved when I was twelve or thirteen. The Spirit called my name, and I said "Yes," but my life did not change. I did not go to church. I did not read my Bible. I just lived. I got married and had three kids, but after my third son was born, the Spirit called my name again. A longing came over me that was so deep and so wide that I couldn't get away from it. I had to find God. It took me a year to find Him. I kept looking for Him in the churches, but He wasn't there. I saw Him in some people, but none that I had extensive contact with. Then the LORD led me to a small non-denominational church in Levelland, Texas. The Spirit was there. The people in this church took me under their wings and nurtured me for a year. Then we got transferred.
The Spirit then led me into the wilderness. There was no one to feed me or to care for me there, so God fed me. He gave me manna from Heaven. He caused the rocks to gush with water. He led me with a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. It was sweet, but there was no power. I saw so many things in the Bible that I could not access. It was there. I could see it, but I couldn't touch it. I could see: "These signs shall follow all those who believe," but no signs followed me. I could see: "If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Be thou removed and cast into the sea," but no mountains moved for me. I could see: "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it so that My Father will be glorified," but my prayers were left unanswered.
Then in January of 2009 my life changed. The LORD woke me up and said, "Judgment is coming!" He told me exactly what He was about to do. When I heard the Word, my heart caught. I cried out, "God, Your church is not ready!" He then graciously gave me four scriptures. It has taken me five years to understand them, but they have now become my default response to all circumstances. Then in September of 2011 the LORD gave me what I now call "The Parable of the Raccoon.” With this parable came power. Not only has God delivered and healed me, but He has given me the tools to lead others to this place of deliverance and healing. It is the power that leads to holiness. It is the power of the cross, and it is glorious!
Now I swim in an ocean of grace. Peace like a river flows through my veins. Joy unspeakable and full of glory bubbles up inside of me at all times. It is a fountain that spills over everywhere I go. All my strivings have ceased. I have now entered into the Sabbath rest that Hebrews talks about where I have ceased from my own labors, and I have entered into His. Isaiah 30:15 “This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel says: ‘Only in returning to Me and resting in Me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.’” I want to take you to this glorious place. The LORD said in Malachi 3:18 “Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” Romans 4:3 says that Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness. Then, Isaiah 32:17 says, “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” The righteous will have peace no matter what happens, but we have to get there. That's what this book is about. It is called, “Trained in Righteousness.” God is training His church to trust Him. This is our righteousness. It is not as hard as you think. He does all the work - we just have to let Him.
I am going to start this book with the original Word of the LORD. Judgment is coming. We have to know what to expect. All the prophets wrote about the "Day of the LORD.” This is a day with a capital “D." We are living in that Day. The cool thing is that God created us for this time and this place. And we were created for His glory, but we have to know the big plan so that we won't be surprised and fall away when it happens.
Then, I am going to take you to four scriptures that God gave me when I asked, "How are we going to make it?" After that, I want to share with you "The Parable of the Raccoon.” This parable was the catalyst that brought the Kingdom with power into my life. Then, I want to share with you the insight that God has given me the last three years. The Bible says that "Wisdom" is to fear God, and "Understanding" is to depart from evil. When I began to depart from evil, "Understanding" came. I want to give to you what God has given to me. And finally, I want to share with you what the future holds for all of us who believe. God has a good plan for us all, a plan to prosper and not to harm, a plan to give us hope and a future. That future is in eternity. The life we live here is not our own - we are only passing through. We have to remember that.
This is kind of a “How-To” manual. It is a hard word. It is going to challenge everything you believe. This book will expose lies that have kept us in bondage our whole life. Once the lie is exposed, we have a choice: Do we continue to believe it, or do we reject the lie and embrace the truth? Romans 1:25 says, “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather that the creator, who is blessed forever. AMEN.” But this is not so with you, for God has said to you, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32) “O send out Your light and Your truth, LORD! Let them lead them; Let them bring them to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle.” (Psalm 43:3)
This book is meant to be interactive. Let God talk to you, and you talk to God. Let Him teach you His ways and show you His paths. Journal the journey. If you have questions, ask God. He says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people would not expect to receive anything from the LORD. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” (James 1:5-8) Write your questions down. When God answers you, listen. Write down what He says. If anything convicts you, write down your convictions, then write down what God is asking you to do.
We then have a written record of what God is wanting from us. James 1:22 says, “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must DO WHAT IT SAYS! Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” If we do not do what God says, we are deceiving ourselves. If we do this, on the day of judgment, we will come up to the Father and say, “LORD, open the door for us!” But He will reply, “I don’t know you or where you come from.” Then you will say, “But we ate and drank with You, and You taught in our streets.” And He will reply, “I tell you, I don’t know you or where you com from. Get away from Me, all you who do evil.” (Luke 13:25-27) God is serious. He is not playing around anymore. He is coming back for a bride that is holy. That is us. Well, maybe not yet, but we will be.
Before you go any farther, will you say this prayer over yourself? "LORD, will You give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand what the Spirit is saying? I want to see and hear and understand so that I can turn in my heart and live.” I ask this in Jesus’ name. Now, I want to pray for you. “May the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our LORD Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it." In Jesus’ name. AMEN 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Blessings, my friends. May grace, mercy, and peace follow you all the days of your life as you live in truth and love.
